Kevin Burke is in his first season of coaching at South Garland. Coach Burke is the Head Freshman Football Coach as well as the Head Baseball Coach. Coach Burke was at Lewisville ISD for the past 9 years and was in Coppell ISD for 3 years prior to that.
Coach Burke graduated from Salinas High School, class of 1990, in Salinas, California where he played football and baseball. After high school, Coach Burke served a two year mission for his church in the Northern Italy area where he learned to speak italian. After returning to the states, Coach Burke worked as a Monterey County Deputy Sheriff from 1994 until 2001.
From 2001 to 2004, Coach Burke decided to return to school to finish his degree and become a teacher and coach. He attended Brigham Young University in Provo, UT.
Coach Burke and his wife, Monica, have four wonderful kids. Morgan, who is in her second year of college at Tarleton State. Tanner, who is a senior this year and planning on attending BYU-Hawaii next year. Jenna, who is a sophomore and plays varsity tennis. And Seth, who is in 7th grade.
